In the chandas (Vedas), śāyac is also the substitute of śnā after the roots ending in consonants, when hi follows.,
Thus गृभाय जिह्वया मधु, (Rig Veda VIII. I7. 5). The affix शानच् is also employed; as बधान पशून् 'kill the beasts'.,
