In the chandas (Vedas) the affix ñyuṭ comes after the verb vah 'to carry' when it is in composition with the words kavya 'oblation of food to deceased ancestors', purīṣa 'faeces' and purīṣya 'water'.,

As कव्यवाहनः पितॄणाम् (Yajur. Ved. II. 29) 'fire that carries the oblation to the pitris'; पुरीषवाहनः 'carrier of water'; पुरीष्यवाहनः (Yaj. Ved. (XI. 44)). The feminine of these words is formed by adding long ई ।,
