Adhyāya 3 · Pāda 2 · Rule 74

The affixes manin (man), vanip (van), vinaya (van) and vic come in the chandas (Vedas) after the verbs which end in long ā , when used in a case-inflected word or upasarga in in composition. ,

The force of 'and' is to include विच्. VI. 20. 7) 'one who gives liberally'; अश्वत्थामा 'the name of Asvatthaman'; सुधा + क्वनिप् = सुधी + वन् (VI. 4 .66) = सुधीवन्, 1st. sing. सुपीवा 'a good drinker'. (Yaj. VI. 19) ghee-drinker'.

The affix विच् is also included in this aphorism. IV. 3. 6.) and Panini 7.3.46 'beautifully going'; रामस्योपदाः 'an offering of Rama.' (see sutra 3.3.106 and Yajur. Ved. XXX. 9).,
