The participle affix śatṛ (at-ant) does not take the augment num after a reduplicate aṅga (stem).,
Thus ददत्, ददतौ, ददतः, जक्षत्, जक्षतौ, जक्षतः, जाग्रत्, जाग्रतौ, जाग्रतः ॥ This is an exception to 7.1.70, and applies of course to sarvanamasthana or strong cases. The नुम् is to be read into this sutra from (VII. I. 70); for the negation of this sutra cannot apply to ई taught in the preceding sutra, for ई is never ordained after satri: therefore, though several other operations intervene, yet नुम् is to be read here.,
