3 Recipient, receptacle, a person or thing in which any quali- ty is present or retained &c.; tamāśrayaṃ duṣprasahasya tejasaḥ R. 3. 58.

4 (a) A place of refuge, asylum; shelter; bhartā vai hyāśrayaḥ...
