The seventh zodiacal sign from the natal sign (lagna); tithau ca jāmitraguṇānvitāyāṃ Ku. 7. 1. (jāmi- traṃ lagnātsaptamaṃ sthānaṃ Malli.) Note Some derive the word from jāyā, because in astrology, the jāmitra sign indi- cates the future good-luck of one's wife (jāyāmitraṃ?); but the word is obviously connected with the Greek diametron.
