2 Adopt- ed (as a child); see below. maḥ, ºputraḥ an artificial or adopted son; one of the 12 kinds of sons recog- nised by the Hindu law; he is a grown up son adopted without the consent of his natural parents; cf. kṛtrimaḥ syātsvayaṃ kṛtaḥ Y. 2. 131; cf. also Ms. 9. 169.
