Apte Sanskrit-English Dictionary

The country of the Magadhas or south Behar. Its old capital was girivraja (or rājagṛha) which con- sisted of five hills vipulagiri, ratnāgiri, udayagiri, śoṇagiri, and vaibhāra (or vyāhāra ) giri. Its next capital was Pātaliputra q. v. Magadha was also called kīkaṭa in later literature.
