Silent involuntary ex- pression of affection towards an absent lover, as when a woman, her mind being taken up by her lover, scratches the ear &c. when he is remembered or talked of; it is thus defined by ujjvalamaṇiḥ kāṃtasma- raṇavārtādau hṛdi tadbha vabhāvataḥ. prākaṭyamabhilāṣa- sya moṭṭāyitamudīryate; see S.
