The affix yak is used after the roots kaṇḍu 'to itch' etc.,
Thus, कण्डूयति or कण्डूयते 'he itches or scratches'. This word takes terminations indicatory. The words कण्डु &c. are both roots and nouns, and are placed therefore in a separate list by themselves and are not included in the general list of verbs. The affix applies to those words as roots and not as nouns.
