The affix chaṇ comes in the sense of 'enounced by him' after the words 1. tittiri 2. varatantu 3. khaṇḍika and 4. ukha,
Thus तैत्तिरीयाः 'those who learn 4.2.64 the Veda enounced by Tittiri'. वारतन्तवीयाः, खाण्डिकीयाः, औखीयाः ॥
According to Kasika this is confined to the Chhandas only. Therefore it will not apply to secular Slokas, as तित्तिरिणा प्रोक्तं श्लोकः ॥ The word Chhandas is drawn from sutra (IV. 3. 106.) and from तद्विषयता from 4.2.66.,
