The affix ṭac is added to the word añjali when preceded by 1. dvi or 2. tri in a dvigu tat-puruṣa samāsa (Numeral Determinative Compound).,
Thus द्वावञ्जली समाहृतौ = द्व्यञ्जलम्, so also त्र्यञ्जलम् ॥ The word द्विगोः is understood here also, so that when the compound is not a Dvigu, the rule does not apply. Thus द्वयोरञ्जलिः = द्वञ्जलिः ॥ The phrase \when a Taddhita is not elided 5.4.92\ is understood here also. Therefore the affix टाच् does not apply here : द्वाभ्यामंजलिभ्यां क्रीतः = द्व्यञ्जलिः ॥ So also त्र्यञ्जलिः (V. 1. 28.) The phrase \according to the opinion of the Eastern Grammarians\ 5.4.101 is to be read into this sutra. Thus in the alternative we have द्व्यञ्जलिप्रियः ॥,
