A compound, the second member of which is a word ending in the kṛt -affix aṇ and which denotes a functionary, gets the acute accent (udātta) on the first syllable.,

Thus छ꣡त्रधारः, तू꣡णीधारः, क꣡मण्डलुग्राहः, भृ꣡ङ्गारधारः ॥ Why do we say when meaning 'a functionary'? Observe काण्डलावः, शरलावः ॥,
