The well-known author of the Mahāvīracarita, Mālatī Mādhava, and Uttararāmacarita. He was a native of Vidarbha and lived at the court of king Yaśovarman of Kānyakubja, who was subdued by Lalitāditya of Kāshmir (693-729 A. D.)
