ind. A vocative particle used in addressing persons, and translateable by ‘oh,’ ‘sir,’ ‘oh,’ ‘halloo,’ ‘ah;’ (it drops its final visarga before vowels and soft con- sonants); kaḥ ko'tra bhoḥ Ś. 2; athi bho maharṣiputra Ś. 7; it is sometimes re- peated; bho bhoḥ śaṃkaragṛhādhivāsino jānapadāḥ Māl. 3 bhos is said to have, in addition, the senses of ‘sorrow’ and ‘interrogation’.
