1 Offering oblations to gods by throwing ghee into the consecrated fire, (one of the five daily Yajñas, to be performed by a Brāhmaṇa, called devayajña q. v.).

2 A burnt offering.

3 A sacrifice. Comp. agniḥ the sacrificial fire. kuṃḍaṃ a hole in the ground for re- ceiving the consecrated fire. turaṃgaḥ a sacrificial horse; R. 3. 38. dhānaṃ a sacrificial chamber. dhānyaṃ 1. sesamum.
