ind. 1 A bow, salutation, ob- eisance, adoration; (this word is, by itself, invariably used with dat.; tasmai vadānyagurave tarave namo'stu Bv. 1. 94; namastrimūrtaye tubhyaṃ Ku. 2. 4; but with kṛ, generally with acc.; munitrayaṃ namaskṛtya Sk.; but sometimes with dat. also; namaskurmo nṛsiṃhāya ibid. The word has the sense of a noun, but is treated as an indeclinable.)
